Castrol EP90 gear oil is used for lubricating manual transmissions and axles, especially in classic vehicles, that require an API GL-4 rating and have conventional spiral bevel or mild hypoid gears. It contains extreme pressure additives to protect gears from wear in high-friction conditions. This oil is not suitable for high-offset hypoid axles or those with limited-slip differentials, which typically require API GL-5 oil.
